Southern Drainage Crossing Complete
Crews completed the southern underground storm drain crossing this week and there will be no nightly southbound (SB) closure on Pyramid Highway for the next several weeks. The new drainage system will collect storm water from drainage inlets placed in the center of the highway at the median. It will then transport the water to either side of the highway to be collected in detention basins helping prevent roadway flooding.
Additional drainage improvements and enhanced systems will be made throughout the project corridor. Drainage work will primarily occur during the night and is continuing through the end of the year.
Nighttime Working Hours:
Northbound (NB) and SB traffic reduced to a single lane between Farr Lane and Los Altos Parkway
SB working hours are Sunday - Friday, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
NB working hours are Sunday - Friday, 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
All lanes, both SB and NB, will be open during the daytime. Expect congestion and delays through the work zone during peak hours. Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to use the designated, barrier-protected path located on the east side of the highway.
Future nighttime closures with detours may be required. Details will be provided in advance.
Emergency I-80 Roadway Surface Repairs: Expect Major Delays
NDOT needs to make emergency roadway surface repairs on I-80 between the California/Nevada stateline and Robb Drive. The roadway surface has deteriorated due to chain damage from the region's icy winter weather. During the repairs, traffic will be reduced to one lane only.
NDOT urges the community to make alternate travel plans during the emergency repairs. Two different back-to-back closures are needed to ensure repairs can be done on I-80 in both directions.
