Each year, the Nevada Department of Transportation and Granite Construction assist with the Hot August Nights event.
Granite Construction sponsors the event by donating materials for traffic control, such as cones and signs, for the cruises, as well as barrier rail and water barriers used at the Nugget drag races. Their staff also helps set-up and take-down traffic control each night!
NDOT works to reduce lane reductions and other impacts of highway construction for smoother highway travel during heavy regional traffic for the Hot August Nights event.
Expect Increased Project Activity After Hot August Nights
Starting back Sunday, August 6, the project will have full crews working, meaning drivers can expect to see an increase in activity. Crews will be completing the drainage basin (pond) on the southern end of the project. They will also start to form the retaining wall at the TMWA facility, and begin earthwork between Kohl's and Los Altos Parkway.
Intermittent nightly closures of the southbound lanes on Pyramid Highway are also possible. Advance notice will be provided.
Final details being made to the foundation of the retaining wall in preparation for concrete to be poured. Next, crews will start forming the wall itself.
